Literacy

The literacy program is thriving as it enters its seventh year, though finding qualified local teachers still proves difficult. While these educators excel in delivering foundational knowledge, instilling critical thinking skills in students proves to be a challenge given the demands of their daily lives. Students often arrive tired after a long day's work, made worse by the sweltering heat. Originally tailored for illiterate women, the program has seen an increase of men enrolling. Men now number nearly half of the students!
